Approximately 3 miles long and half mile wide and approximately 600 feet deep, this Alpine Lake was formed by a glacier. History buffs and nature lovers are drawn to its shores. Bounded on the West by the infamous Donner Summit; on the North by Donner Ridge (I-80); and on the East by Donner Memorial State Park, activities here focus on the lake and environment. Amenities such as those offered by the Donner Lake Property Owners Beach Club are available to property owners through paid memberships. The amphitheater of granite at the west end of the lake is lined with rock climbing routes that are among the world’s most famous.
